Technician Training Experience (TTE)
 
We welcome applications from talented technicians, who will have the opportunity to work in a diversity of fields: electronics, electricity, mechanics, IT, vacuum, cooling and ventilation, safety, radioprotection, survey engineering, are but a few examples of the many domains in which successful applicants will learn and contribute their knowledge.  
  • ~50 positions every year
  • 2-3 years
  • level of studies pre-BSc (BSc, MSc or PhD graduates not eligible)
  • open all year round, open all year round, with 3 selection committees per year.
 
Technical Student Programme
 
If you’re an undergraduate in Applied Physics, Engineering or Computing and are looking for a practical training period or a place to complete your final project, you could spend 4 to 12 months at CERN during the course of your studies (Bachelor or Master’s). 
  • ~200 positions every year
  • duration: 4-12 months
  • eligibility: you should have completed at least 18 months of your undergraduate studies (Bachelor or Master’s)
  • opens twice a year for applications, committees in May and December
 
Administrative Students Programme 
 
If you’re an undergraduate in Administration and are looking for a practical training period or a place to complete your final project, you could spend 2 to 12 months at CERN during the course of your studies (Bachelor or Master). It could be in any of the following disciplines: translation, human resources, advanced secretarial work, business administration, logistics, law, finance, accounting, library and information science, engineering management, science communication, education, audiovisual, communication and public relations, psychology, audit are but a few of the examples of the many domains in which successful applicants will learn and contribute their knowledge. 
  • ~30 positions every year
  • duration: 4-12 months.
  • after 18 months of undergraduate studies
  • opens twice a year for applications, committees in May and December
 
Doctoral Student Programme 
 
This is a chance to work on your thesis while spending up to 36 months at the forefront of science. Whether you’ve already chosen a subject or are still making your decision, if your specialism is Applied Physics, Engineering or Computing, this is an invitation to further your knowledge in a truly unique organization.
 
  • ~60 positions every year
  • duration: 6-36 months
  • enrolled in a doctoral programme
  • opens twice a year for applications, committees in May and Decemberr
 
Fellowship Programme
 
If you’re a recent graduate from university or a technical institute, you’re no doubt looking for the chance to make your mark. Here it is: you could spend up to three years working right at the forefront of scientific research.
  • ~250 positions every year
  • duration: 2-3 years
  • BSc, MSc or PHD graduates
  • opens twice a year for applications, committees in May and November
 
Summer Student Programme 
 
How do you plan to spend your summer? How does getting involved in some of the world’s biggest experiments sound? This is more than summer work. It’s the chance to join CERN in Geneva – getting involved in the day-to-day work of our multicultural teams. Attend lectures, visit CERN facilities, take part in discussions and workshops with people who are leaders in their fields.
  • ~200 positions every year (member states)
  • duration: 8-13 weeks
  • after 36 months of full-time studies
  • applications open in Autumn, selections in March the following year
