Congratulations to everyone on the new school year! On 1 September, we invite all members of the Vilnius University community to come together to welcome the new academic year. Please note that Tuesday, 1 September is the opening day of Vilnius University's academic year, RENOVATIO STUDIORUM – thus there will be no lectures on that day.
During the traditional RENOVATIO STUDIORUM celebration, we will raise the VU flag, gather at faculty events, where students from Lithuania and abroad will meet their faculty's academic community and future study mates. In the afternoon we invite staff, students, and alumni to join the procession, followed by a solemn ceremony in the VU’s Grand Courtyard, where first-year students will take the oath of allegiance to their university, and the community will be greeted by university and city leaders.
RENOVATIO STUDIORUM programme
9:30 – Raising of the VU flag in the Library Courtyard.
10:00–13:00 – Academic year opening events in the faculties. For students of the Faculty of Physics:
- Undergraduates, we will be waiting for you at 11.00 at the Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University, in the Great Physics Auditorium (Saulėtekis av. 9, Building III, 1st floor)
- Master's students, we will be waiting for you at 12.00 at the Faculty of Physics, in the Great Physics Auditorium (Saulėtekis av. 9, Building III, 1st floor)
14:45 – Procession of VU staff, students, and alumni from the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania to the VU Grand Courtyard (Universiteto g. 3).
15:30–16:30 – Solemn RENOVATIO STUDIORUM academic year opening ceremony in the VU Grand Courtyard.
NB: 1–4 September is the integration week for undergraduate freshmen and there will be no lectures for them. For all other courses, lectures will start on 2 September (Wednesday).
