Professional Practice is a compulsory component of all Bachelor’s degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Physics and is undertaken by students during the autumn semester of their fourth year. The Professional Practice must be aligned with the field of the respective study programme: physics, electronic engineering, or materials technologies, depending on the programme.

Students who are required to complete Professional Practice may choose from the following options:

  1. Professional Practice may be completed in research groups and research laboratories of the VU Faculty of Physics (LRC, IPN, ICHP, ITPA, IAET). To facilitate this, the VU Faculty of Physics publishes available Professional Practice topics and supervisors on its website.
  2. Professional Practice may be completed in research groups and research laboratories of other VU faculties (e.g., the Life Sciences Center or the Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences).
  3. Students may also arrange their own Professional Practice placement, for example, at companies whose activities are relevant to the field of their study programme.
