As in previous years, Vilnius University Library invites you to “Data Days”—specialised training sessions for researchers and scientists on topics related to research data management. This year’s sessions, led by guests from the Netherlands, are tailored for researchers in the field of health sciences and research software developers.

"Making FAIR work: from pre-FAIR assessment to practical steps for FAIR adoption in Health Sciences"

Facilitator: Mijke Jetten (Health-RI, ELIXIR-NL and TDCC-LSH, the Netherlands)
Date and Time: 8 December, 4 pm

Duration: 1 hour

Language: English

Registration here. The training will take place on MS Teams.

About the training: This one-hour session introduces a practical, step-by-step approach to making Health Sciences data more FAIR: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. Drawing on examples from other projects, participants will explore how to define FAIR goals, reflect on current practices, and plan small, realistic improvements using tools from the FAIR Metroline and RDMkit. The session also addresses challenges of sensitive health data, showing how FAIR principles support responsible and ethical data management without overpromising what can be achieved in one go.

"FAIR and reproducible research software"

Speaker: Dr. Fenne Riemslagh (Netherlands eScience Center)
Date and Time: 9 December, 3 pm

Duration: 1 hour

Language: English

Registration here. The training will take place on MS Teams.

About the training: High-quality research often depends on high-quality research software. But what are good software development practices that ensure your software can be reused? In this session, we will discuss why you should care about managing your research software, how to apply the FAIR principles to software, and how to make your software reusable so your research becomes more reproducible.

About the facilitator: Fenne Riemslagh has a background in biomedical sciences and received her PhD at the department of Clinical Genetics at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam in 2019. Fenne’s research focused on molecular mechanisms underlying the neurodegenerative disorders ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and FTD (frontotemporal dementia). For her postdoc, she moved to Denver, Colorado, USA, to study cardiovascular diseases. After moving back to the Netherlands, Fenne joined Netherlands eScience Center as a Coordinator Training Programme to coordinate and develop digital skills workshops.
