Congratulations to our faculty students and alumni – Center's for Physical Sciences and Technology team “Quantum Bäcon“ (A. Paskačimaitė, V. Šilys, J. Dobilas, P. Rindzevičius ir U. Šilingaitė).

The Faculty of Physics students team “Not Today, Eve” (G. Usevičius, I. Pocius, J. Turčak, U. Tarvydytė, J. Minkevičius) took second place.

According to physicist Gediminas Usevičius, PhD student and representative of “Not Today, Eve,” the team worked on developing networks for quantum communication. “Our idea is linked to the current situation in Ukraine. By employing quantum technologies and drones, we aimed to establish infrastructure for secure quantum communication. We believe such a network could realistically be created,” he said.

Professor Mantas Šimėnas, a board member of the “Quantum Lithuania”, emphasised that some solutions proposed by the hackathon teams could prove useful in certain situations. “These ideas have the potential to be realised as technologies in the future. I am delighted that this event not only raises awareness of quantum technologies but also encourages their development. Teams from Latvia, France and Sweden also performed excellently,” he said.

The Quantum Boost hackathon brought together teams from nine countries across three continents. On 14 November, six teams competed in the final. The event was organised by the Lithuanian Quantum Technologies Association “Quantum Lithuania”.
