On 26 November at 16:00 in A101 aud. (National Center for Physical and Technological Sciences, Saulėtekio ave. 3), Dr Adam Benjamin Morris will give a public seminar "Computing at the LHC". He is a long-standing member of the LHCb experiment.

Abstract

Computing is an integral part of modern high-energy physics experiments, and the required computing power grows rapidly with the volume and complexity of the data.
This talk will give a pedagogical overview of the concepts and current state-of-the-art of computing at the LHC. It will also cover recent innovations, the challenges posed by the upcoming high-luminosity upgrade, and what the future may look like for the field.

About the speaker

A. B. Morris has been contributing to the CERN LHCb experiment for more than 10 years: he has made significant contributions to particle physics data analysis, LHCb software development, and complex particle physics Monte Carlo simulations. Now, A. B. Morris is bringing this experience to LHCb Vilnius, where he will contribute to the training of doctoral students, knowledge transfer at Vilnius University, and five-quark data analysis.
