During the ceremony, the graduates and their families were greeted by VU Vice-Rector Dr Artūras Vasiliauskas, VU Rector Professor Rimvydas Petrauskas, and Dr Martynas Barkauskas — CEO of the laser company Light Conversion and an alumnus of the Faculty of Physics.
“In physics, we learn laws, formulas and theories. Yet their true value emerges only when we apply them — solving problems, creating new ideas and helping us understand the world. Today’s diploma is not a finish line, but a starting point,” said Dean Professor Aidas Matijošius, wishing that the knowledge gained would become a force capable of changing the world.

Dionizas Zizas spoke on behalf of the 2026 Bachelor’s graduates. “Most of us gathered beneath these magnificent vaults are physicists — or at least many of us are. We know how unimaginably vast the Universe is, how much time has passed and how much more is yet to come. We know that our planet is but a tiny speck, and our lives mere moments. This moment marks the end of four years of effort and the beginning of something entirely new,” he said, wishing that curiosity, inquisitiveness and a love of physics would continue to guide the way forward.
Speaking on behalf of the 2026 Master’s graduates, Dharma Prasetya Permana spoke about his journey through studies, emphasising that Vilnius University has been one of the best places in his life, and expressing his hope that many more people will choose to study here and gain a similar experience.
Rokas Lemežis highlighted not only the milestone of completing the studies, but the entire journey leading up to this moment. “By finishing our studies, we have achieved one of our goals — one we can truly be proud of,” he said.
