Congratulations to Marijus Ambrozas on the successful defence of his PhD thesis in Physics, titled “Precision of the Drell–Yan process measurement with the CMS Phase–2 upgrade”. Supervisor – Dr Andrius Juodagalvis.
The measurement of the Drell-Yan process cross-section presented in this thesis will enable theoretical physicists to improve our understanding of the proton's internal structure and test the Standard Model of particle physics. Another activity presented in this work – RD53 pixel chip performance studies – contributes directly to the upgrade of the CMS detector at CERN, which is scheduled for completion in 2030.
According to the author, this is the first doctoral thesis in Lithuania on the subject of experimental high-energy physics that is directly linked to work carried out at CERN.
